Volvo supports Foodbank
An Australian-made truck is helping an Australian charity deliver fresh food to needy Australians that are experiencing tough times. Volvo Trucks Australia has supplied an FH Globetrotter prime mover to Foodbank NSW & ACT, along with a refrigerated trailer that will allow the charity to double deliveries of much-needed food relief.

For Foodbank NSW & ACT, the Volvo will enable them to distribute thousands of food relief orders every day, especially to regional communities, as demand for food relief has surged by 40 per cent in recent years.
The largest vehicle in the Foodbank NSW & ACT fleet, the Globetrotter’s advanced fuel efficiency is expected to reduce outsourced freight costs by approximately 10 per cent, enabling more food to reach more people in need, more efficiently.
Built for Australian conditions at Volvo's facility at Wacol, near Brisbane, the new truck hit the ground running, delivering over 1,000 emergency hampers, plus six tonnes of fresh produce to communities impacted by May’s floods in Northern NSW - even before its official addition to the Foodbank fleet!

Tom Chapman, Vice President, Volvo Trucks Australia, said: “We're incredibly proud to partner with Foodbank NSW & ACT. Their vital work delivers essential food relief to Australians facing hunger daily, particularly in regional and remote areas. Volvo Trucks has a strong connection to Australia, with our trucks a familiar sight on roads across the country.
“This new Volvo prime mover strengthens our connection with local communities, empowering Foodbank NSW & ACT to double their fresh produce deliveries, while cutting freight costs.”

The FH Globetrotter is one of Volvo’s iconic trucks, capable of long-haul and regional-haul transport, with advanced technology designed to improve efficiency. The FH Globetrotter is certified ‘Australian Made’ and another product from Volvo’s Wacol plant that has produced more than 80,000 trucks since 1972, supporting hundreds of local jobs and partnering with over 100 Australian suppliers.
“The Volvo FH Globetrotter is our flagship long-haul truck. Its advanced features are designed specifically for Australia’s demanding environment, making it the perfect truck for Foodbank to respond quickly to the needs of Australian communities,” Chapman added.
“We saw this in action during the Northern NSW floods, with the truck delivering vital supplies. We're excited to see it continue making a real difference for those who need it most.”

John Robertson, CEO of Foodbank NSW & ACT, said: “Our new Volvo truck is making a difference, helping us reach isolated communities quickly during emergencies and ongoing food relief operations.
“With more than 50 per cent of our deliveries going to regional areas, this is a critical investment in getting fresh food to areas where food insecurity is the most severe, with a reduced carbon footprint.”
